Focky, the duck
The Art of Focusing

Each of us dreams of a successful existence, happy relationships and a balanced life. Many paths can lead to the goal. One of the most important factors for this is the focus we put on our individual steps. The entire concentration is directed in the desired direction in order to achieve greater effectiveness and faster success.
Sound simple, but it`s not. Too many people, events and emotions cross the chosen path every day and distract us too quickly from the actual goal. But not only that, people tend to focus too much on problems, negative feelings and despair, which turn leads to shifts in inner balance and the loss of good personal skills and competencies.
For an artist like Ali Görmez, whose images are created purely from previous visualizations, the loss of focus can be fatal. The visualized forms would have disappeared faster than expected before he would have immortalized them on paper or canvas. Therefore, the artist spents a long time trying to protect himself from distractions and focus his attention on positive and effective solutions.

The third eye
In order to breathe life into his works of art, Ali Görmez likes to isolate himself in his art studio. While the artist thinks in pictures, he consciously concentrates on his imagination and his own perception. When drawing, he switches off his thoughts and pays attention to his gut feeling and intuition. This gives him access to his inner eye, where he can not only see his visualization better, but also perceive his own feelings and those of his surroundings.

The Duck
A pop art artists colors and forms cannot be taken over from what already exists but must correspond to the values of the painting artist and underpin his thoughts and feelings. Otherwise, they are lifeless and devoid of any meaning.
The eye that Ali Görmez had drawn for himself in order to remember his goals and his personal focus again, did not seems powerful enough to him personally. Recognizing the duck as him totem animal, he finally decided to merge both forms.
Focky, the duck
Did you know, that ducks are known to be power animals? They symbolize energy, emotions, intuition, water energy and emotional strength. At the same time, ducks reflect the yin and yang with their way of life. It is therefore not surprising that Ali Görmez, for his eye of concentration and focus, found the perfect interplay in the depiction of a duck. In combination with these two pop art forms, the art-character “Focky – the Duck” was created.
Focky the duck is intended to remind not only the artist, but all those who come into contact with her, of the current focus. At the same time, however, it should also point out that there are times when problems of life can be avoided and that times are clearly addressed to them. “Focky, the duck” is grounded and always retains its inner balance.

Focky the duck on canvas
The first picture of the art figure “Focky, the duck” was created in 2013. It seemed like a giant reflection. Since then, the now well-known art character has also adorned many other works of Ali Görmez artworks and appears time by time again as a marginal figure on complex representations of the artist. While “Focky, the duck” was once intended only as a personal vision of Ali Görmez, she gets now called as cult figure in the pop art scene and is also internationally known.
